How to pick the right skip size?
Many people hire skips for all types of projects. Some clients may need a skip for a small clearance, whereas others may require bigger clearance for large scale landscape projects. The type of project dictates the size and type of the skip required.
As a general rule of thumb, we ask you to estimate the equivalent bin bags worth of waste required to clear. Once you have this figure, we recommend that you overestimate this amount so that you have more allocated space, in case of emergencies. This new figure should give you an idea of which skip to initially hire using the guide below.
The reason we ask you to overestimate is because an overfilled skip could leave you subject to charges. This could mean that you may require an additional skip to fill a minimal level of waste, which is not cost effective in the long run. Our job is to provide you with the most efficient waste management solution available to you.
Another point to consider before hiring a skip is how much free space you have to place the skip. A skip does not require a permit from the council when it is placed onto a private land. It will only require a permit if it placed onto council owned lands such as public roads.
Furthermore, if you are planning to have your skip placed onto privately owned lands, such as a driveway, we urge you to take the space required into consideration before booking. Moreover, acknowledging that our drivers cannot place a skip where our trucks cannot obtain access.
